ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT SEARCYS | THE GHERKIN
As part of 30 St. Mary Axe’s ongoing 10th anniversary celebrations, photographer Paul Ratigan has been commissioned by Searcys | The Gherkin
to create two unique cityscapes.
The bespoke artworks will hang in the exclusive restaurant on level 39 of London’s iconic The Gherkin until June 2015
Architecture and structural engineering form the backbone of Paul Ratigan’s subject matter. Also a commercial architectural photographer, he brings this technical knowledge and visual precision to his fine art photography practice.
Based in London, but traveling throughout the world, Paul works solely with cityscapes.
"Using the distinctive and inspirational architecture of the Gherkin as a starting point I used photomontage to manipulate the dynamic and graphic shapes. Traditional and modern architectural elements were repeatedly overlaid resulting in a dense and complex textural space. The viewer is invited to investigate the abstract photographic imagery as the eye travels around and into the pictures." - Paul Ratigan
